Yemeni Houthi Rebels Launch Fresh Drone and Missile Attacks Targeting Multiple Cities in Saudi Arabia
RIYADH: Yemeni Houthi rebels have stepped up their cross-border air attacks on Saudi civilian infrastructure and towns, further raising security concerns in the region.
A formal statement from the spokesperson of the Saudi Civil Defence said that it was able to intercept and neutralise multiple incoming air threats targeting the southern cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha and Jazan. In the wake of the recent strikes, Saudi authorities have undertaken massive steps to enhance protection and defense measures in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Coalition Statement and Strategic Infrastructure Targeting
In an operational detail, Arab Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said that the Houthi movement used ballistic missiles and drones laced with explosives to attack Saudi cities in the attacks.
Al-Maliki noted that the militant group has continued targeting of critical civilian facilities and economic centers are indicative of its aggressive and uncompromising policy. He reaffirmed that the coalition will take “determinative, responsible and proportional measures” to respond to these threats and defend the nation’s sovereignty.
