Won’t Step Back From My Stance Due to Threats of Governor’s Rule, Declares KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that he would not give an inch to the pressures being put by the federal government, adding that he would not back down from his principled political position or condescend to threats of imposing Governor’s Rule in K-P.
Speaking at a high-level meeting on provincial law and order, Chief Minister Afridi highlighted that the people, police and security forces of KPK have sacrificed a lot and much more to restore the stability of the province.

Peace through Sacrifices: More than 80,000 people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have sacrificed their lives in the war on terror; they were very upset that the peace they have gained in twenty years is being jeopardized, Afridi said.
Excessive apathy towards federal warnings: The Chief Minister said that the rule of law was being violated when he repeatedly warned the Federal government of the resurgence and movement of militant elements but it was sadly being ignored as mere political propaganda.
Afridi rejected Flawed Policies: Afridi has cautioned that the federal government’s current counter-terrorism strategy is flawed and keeping KP in a “dark place” of terror is not acceptable.
Reaffirming Political Resolve
Afridi said that while the provincial government is steadfastly committed to protecting its citizens, Islamabad needs to put regional stakeholders in genuine confidence instead of closed-door approach.
