We Will Not Let Weapons Used Against Our Country Pass Through Strait of Hormuz, Declares Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at UNGA
NEW YORK : Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made a strong gesture at the UN General Assembly’s 81st session, the podium of which he took, firing back at US rhetoric and asserting that Tehran will not allow weapons to pass through the strategic Strait of Hormuz that are used against its sovereignty.The US president called us terrorists.In the global assembly, President Pezeshkian directly addressed previous descriptions as terrorists.
We have suffered from the terror of terrorists. In his address, the Iranian President showed the international community the pictures of the dead and injured students in the Minab school, who immediately led the US delegation to walk out of the hall.
Pezeshkian asserted that Iran has never started a war, and pointed out that Tehran’s military actions have been strictly in self-defense. He made the point that Israel has weapons of mass destruction while Iran is unfairly facing heavy international sanctions for failing to disarm.
Calling nuclear power “part of the progress” and “for peaceful purposes,” Pezeshkian reiterated Tehran’s stance on its nuclear capabilities: “Iran does need nuclear energy, but not a nuclear bomb. Iran is steadfast on the principle of diplomacy and dialogue, but never to be subjected to pressure or coercion, he said.
In the context of waterways and maritime security, the Iranian President also pointed out the danger of hostile transit in the Strait of Hormuz.
He said that Iran can’t allow hostile actors to use key waterways to exert power or instigate attacks against Iran and at the same time limit Tehran’s own access to the sea. Pezeshkian then emphasized that regional peace and stability can only be achieved through cooperation and absolute respect of international law within the region and denounced the current situation in the Gaza Strip as a test of the global conscience.
