Visa Facilitation, Direct Air Links, and Efficient Logistics Are Vital for Expanding Pakistan-Russia Trade, Stresses Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi
MOSCOW: The Pakistan Ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi has stated that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia are on a positive track as the emerging centres of global power are fast changing the trend of international trade.
Speaking at the MGIMO International Business Trends Forum 2026, Ambassador Tirmizi highlighted the growing importance of enhanced cooperation and connectivity in the current global dynamics.

Supporting Bilateral Trade Relations: The ambassador emphasized the need for strong enablers to support bilateral trade, including visa facilitation, establishing direct air links, and improving logistics.
Role of Regional Organizations: Multilateral forums like the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), D-8, SAARC, and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) can be instrumental in the economic integration, trade and transport cooperation in the region, Tirmizi said.
Strategic Geopolitical Location: He emphasized Pakistan’s strategic significance as a natural land and sea bridge between Central and South Asia and the Middle East, playing a vital role in the region’s trade and transportation.
Youth Dynamics and Innovation: Youth accounts for about 68% of Pakistan’s population which is a big asset as well as a great responsibility and to make business compatible with scientific innovation is necessary for sustainable economical development, Tirmizi said.
High Level engagements: Ambassador noted that high level dialogue between Pakistan and Russia is also gaining momentum and upcoming visit of Russian Interior Minister to Pakistan in October is a clear indicator of strengthening bilateral engagement.
Ambassador Tirmizi also met with the foreign diplomats, Russian business and academic community and students of MGIMO on the sidelines of the forum, underscoring Pakistan’s strong support for the enhancement of its relationship, economic cooperation and people-to-people contacts with Russia.
