US and UAE Establish Military Artificial Intelligence Task Force
ABU DHABI:The United States and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have officially declared the launch of a joint bilateral military artificial intelligence (AI) task force called Task Force Talon Synapse. The specialized unit will be headquartered in Abu Dhabi and will include some 20 experts in the fields of artificial intelligence, data science and cybersecurity from both countries, according to Emirati and U.S. defense officials.
The new task force will be tasked with integrating advanced applications of artificial intelligence to enable intelligence collection, safeguard critical infrastructure, and track security environments in the region. Analysts say the move is a significant new step in defense technological co-operation between the two countries, with the aim of using real-world operational information to increase the effectiveness of automated threat detection and cyber defense systems. Collaborative efforts aim to spark innovation and improve technical interoperability between U.S. and Emirati forces in the region, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
