US President Trump Says He Does Not Want a Protracted War With Iran, Warns of Military Action if Negotiations Fail

US President Donald Trump Declares He Does Not Want a Protracted War With Iran and Warns of Potential Military Action if Negotiations Fail; Asserts Regime Change Is Not Necessary

WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump says he will not want to see the prospect of one potential war with Iran turn into a “long, long struggle” like the Vietnam War and says he doesn’t know yet if there’s any possibility of a deal with the Tehran government.

In his comments on the current geopolitical tensions, President Trump said that a decisive strike on Iran has yet to be carried out due to Tehran’s willingness to sit down with the United States for negotiations. But he warned, however, that, if diplomatic efforts and negotiations do not work, military action might be required.

The first hurdle and intention in the US President Donald Trump’s remarks on Iran negotiations is whether to address Iranian officials or factions that could be considered credible negotiators.

“Regime Change Not Required”: The US President made it clear that the only requirement to effectively prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon is for a “change of regime” within Iran itself. Assessment of Iran’s Economic Strain: Claiming that Iran is currently experiencing severe economic crisis and financial distress, Trump alleged that the regime is facing extreme difficulties even in paying salaries to its military personnel.
