94 Percent of Gaza’s Population Lacks a Roof Over Their Heads: United Nations
UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations Spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, has claimed that some 94 percent of Gaza’s population today is homeless.UN humanitarian agencies report that over four out of five families are living in critical or catastrophic conditions in shelters lacking basic fuel, energy and household items.
The severe limitations, already exacerbated by restrictions on humanitarian assistance, directly affect the people’s capacity to sleep, cook, wash, store food and water and deal with adverse weather conditions, warned UN officials. Ongoing airstrikes, shelling and gunfire are reported to have killed civilians throughout the enclave, where humanitarian Obstacles and Debris Clearance continues to be ongoing.
The huge number of human casualties was emphasized as 50 corpses, including 19 children, were recently recovered under the debris. UN officials stressed that the remains of the bodies and the debris clearance process continue to be severely limited because of the continued prohibition on the entry of heavy machinery, spare parts, lubricants and other essential equipment.
