Trump’s Threat Is an Attempt to Divert Attention From His Own Economic Woes: Abbas Araghchi
TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has slammed the United States’ announcement of economic warfare against Iran, calling it an “attempt to deflect attention” from the serious economic problems facing the United States.
Iranian top diplomat Abbas Araghchi, in his account on the social media platform X, said the “Economic D-Day” Washington has claimed to be “alarming” is a “clearly staged distraction from the present crisis” for America over its sky-high national debt and rising interest costs. U.S. National Debt Crosses $40 Trillion Araghchi’s remarks come after a public declaration by U.S. President Donald Trump that he had imposed what he called the “most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country” against Iran, targeting oil smuggling networks, monetary transfers, and foreign companies providing lifelines to Tehran.
Araghchi, in turn, noted that the U.S. national debt has recently passed the record $40 trillion mark, according to the U.S. Treasury Department. Politics of the past and of failure will only cause more defeats for Washington and more hostility towards the people of Iran, he said. Moreover he pointed out that American economic terrorism is a constant threat to the state sovereignty in the world and to the global economy.
