During a routine check of the roads in Bahawalpur, CCD Bahawalpur asked two motorcyclists to halt. The suspects did not stop, but instead fired upon the police party. The gunfire that followed resulted in one of the suspects dying, which was later determined to be Tauqeer Nazeer.
Accomplice Flees: Suspect’s accomplice who was gunning at officers fled the scene. Police teams have already started a pursuit and there is a separate case against the unknown people at the CCD Multan police station in connection with the escape of the suspect from police custody.
The Background of the crime: The suspect Tauqeer had run down 15 year old Waseem Abbas after an argument. The victim is reportedly an orphan boy who wanted to stop working because of the suspect’s inhumane and abusive treatment of the boy.
A judicial magistrate had remanded the accused in custody to police for four days earlier and the police had issued the remand. During his court appearance, local lawyers had also physically manhandled the suspect over the brutality of the crime.
