Suicide Car Bombing Near Check Post in Dera Ismail Khan Leaves 11 Martyred, Including Six Policemen and a Toddler
DERA ISMAIL KHAN : In a tragic and brutal act of terrorism, at least 11 people were martyred while more than 30 people were injured in a big explosion in security and anti-smuggling checkpoint in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan (D.I. Khan).
Initial police and security reports suggest a suicide bomber drove an explosives laden van straight into the barrier near the Aman Mela check point, causing a huge explosion which left chunks of the compound in ruins and damaged civilian vehicles in the vicinity.
Breakdown of Casualties
District administration and Rescue 1122 officials confirmed that the victims were among members of the security forces and innocent civilians:
Law Enforcement Personnel: Six police officials and two customs officials on duty at the joint checkpoint were among the 11 martyrs.
Two women and a two-year-old child, who were innocent victims, were also killed in the explosion, and at least 30 people were injured and taken to local hospitals for urgent trauma treatment.
After the explosion, Rescue 1122 teams from the Darazinda station rushed there and cordoned off the area and took injured and body parts to hospitals. The emergency protocol continues to be in place at local healthcare facilities.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemns the attack.
The PM Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Dera Ismail Khan and stated that he was filled with grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives of innocent people.
The Prime Minister added that “the supreme sacrifices made by the guardians of our nation in the war of terror will never go in vein, the government is still fully determined to eradicate terrorism from our soil completely. He also condoled with the grieving families and offered prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.
