Strait of Hormuz Security Depends on Halting US Attacks and Naval Blockade: Abbas Araghchi
TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that ensuring full security and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz strictly depends on halting United States military operations and its naval blockade. In a telephone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Araghchi made these remarks about the current regional situation and security measures in the waterway, which is vital for regional and international security, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. In the course of the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister informed his German counterpart about the current talks with Oman. He said these talks are meant to create a safe and clear shipping lane for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Araghchi pointed out that the root cause of instability and insecurity in the strategic corridor is the military aggression against Iran by the United States and Israel. He also called on the international community to hold the US ruling regime responsible for the broader security and economic repercussions of closure or disruption of the Strait. Araghchi said the restoration of sustainable stability can only be achieved by halting the aggressive actions of the United States, illegal interference, maritime blockade and violation of previous international commitments.
