Sharjeel Inam Memon Terms Khawaja Asif’s Statement Disappointing, Demands Federal Clarification
KARACHI: Sindh’s senior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said the recent comment by the Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif is “disappointing” and has called on the federal government to explain whether it is an official government policy or personal opinion.
In a strongly worded response, Sharjeel Memon said that the “reckless talk” by federal ministers is political aggression against the provinces. He urged Khawaja Asif to do careful research on the country’s history, the Constitution and parliamentary proceedings before making any statements against Sindh and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
Uncompromising Stance and Legislative Precedents.
Memon said that PPP’s stance is clear, principled and firmly based on the Constitution, and not vague. He pointed out that the Punjab Assembly has approved two resolutions calling for a Saraiki province while the Sindh Assembly has approved eight resolutions that call for separation of new provinces in Sindh.
The PML-N is welcome to keep its political allies happy but it should not make Sindh a political pawn for its convenience, Memon said.

On the other hand, reiterating the party’s democratic credentials, the Sindh Senior Minister said that the PPP has been consistently involved in politics which aimed to strengthen the federation, uphold the supremacy of the Constitution and stabilize the democratic setup. He finally reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fulfill its invaluable role in protecting the federalism in Pakistan and democratic institutions.
