Preparations for Local Government Elections Complete in Punjab, Decision on Polling Date Expected August 20
ISLAMABAD; The last countdown for loca,,l government polls has begun in Punjab. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has invited the Punjab government to formal talks on finalisation of polling date. A key meeting to finalize the local government election calendar in Punjab is to take place on August 20 to make an important decision, official sources said.
The finalisation of all the arrangements required for local body elections in Punjab has been completed including the procedure for delimitation. The formal election schedule will be published after the polling date is determined at the next meeting.The upcoming meeting of the Consultative meeting between the Election Commission and the Punjab government is seen as an important step towards the realisation of local governance poll.
