Punjab Government Decides to Downgrade Mobile and Internet Services in Rawalpindi and Attock Starting September 27
RAWALPINDI : The Punjab government has taken a significant step towards public security and safeguarding law and order by announcing the upcoming downgrade of cellular and mobile internet in certain areas of Rawalpindi from September 27th.
The Punjab Home Department has formally sent a high priority letter to the federal Ministry of Interior asking for the suspension and slowdown of data services, according to official sources.
Items that will be included in the Service Downgrade Request:
Targeted Areas: Sensitive areas and specific locations of Rawalpindi and Attock districts.
Network Restrictions: Temporary jamming and bandwidth reduction for 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks.
Effective Date: This is the date when services will be downgraded, which is 27th September.

The provincial police authorities gave mobile and broadband operators an ultimatum that they cut back on their speeds to stop untoward incidents, and the company has done just that, official sources said.
