PTI Policies Formerly Originated From Kabul, But Our Directives Will Now Stem From Islamabad; KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi Announces Enhanced Police and Martyrs Packages
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has declared that the present Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will make all the decisions in the interests of the nation from Islamabad, as opposed to the previous government that was following the policies made in Kabul and Kandahar.
Restoring peace is the top priority of the administration, Governor Kundi told the press at Peshawar after the first meetings of the provincial advisory council and the Apex Committee, adding that political agitation and long marches have been rejected by the people of KP.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi held a press conference to share some of the highlights of the events.
Spending on Police and Martyrs’ Packages: Governor Kundi stated that he is planning to give huge pay hikes to the police and better compensation to martyrs’ families with a full free education of their children. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had already delivered 10 APC vehicles to boost the capability of police in the local area, he added.
Past Governance: In the context of the transition after the Governor’s Rule, Kundi said that the administration will aim to clean up “13 years of accumulated mess” in the next three months, noting that ghost recruitment would be stopped under the policy of zero tolerance for corruption.
Call for Economic and Civic Restoration: The governor requested the doctors and University authorities to get back to the work, assuring that all legitimate grievances would be addressed first. He further revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would soon visit Peshawar to meet and discuss border management with the Federal government as well as to inspect the development project in the region.
Reaffirming the unity of security forces and civil administration, Kundi said that if anyone would try to take the law into their own hands, they would have to face strict legal action, adding that the abandoned containers for protesting were all over the province and would be removed by the municipal authorities.
