PTI Issues Joint Declaration on New Provinces Debate, Demands Apology from Punjab CM and Medical Care for Party Founder
ISLAMABAD:In a formal joint declaration, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formally declared its position on the political, governance and human rights concerns of the nation after a high-level consultative meeting of its political and core committees.
As per declaration, PTI believes that all provinces of Pakistan are equal and integral federating units and categorically rejects any rhetoric or effort of creating hatred and division among the people of the provinces.
Violations of the law will not be tolerated, the Chief Minister’s remarks, which violated Article 19 of the Constitution and demanded an apology, were condemned.
The core committee strongly condemned the recent remarks by the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz about the issue of regional security and administrative discourse, urging him to immediately withdraw those statements and unreserved apology to the nation.
Condemnation of Arrests and healthcare demands by Founder of PTI
The top officials highlighted that the health and medical condition of the jailed PTI leader is a serious concern and must be addressed immediately. The party called for his immediate transfer to an appropriate medical center for a thorough physical examination and treatment.
In addition, the session strongly condemned the arrest of senior party leader Hammad Azhar, saying PTI will continue its peaceful political struggle to safeguard the basic constitutional rights of the people of the country.
The former position of Barrister Gohar, New Provinces
In recent media engagements, however, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan reiterated what has already been said by the party’s leadership, saying that hasty move for the creation of new provinces would threaten the federal bond.
Barrister Gohar opined that a situation like the 18th Amendment should be followed, with a consultative process, and that it is a serious constitutional issue rather than one of legislation which merits a full debate in Parliament rather than rush through.
