PTI Involved in Terrorist Financing and Functions as B-Team of Proscribed TTP, Charges Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar
ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has hit back at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership with a scathing and direct attack on the party’s alleged involvement with terrorist funding and acting as the “B-team” of the proscribed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, speaking at the press conference with the Federal Information Minister, asked why the PTI leadership has always been spared from being targeted by the militants while other political parties like ANP, JUI-F and PML-N had been getting mauling.
Key Accusations and Governance Failures (KP)
Exposing Terrorists: Tarar said PTI has been systematically promoting and supporting the extremists and the provincial government in KP has proved incompetent and apathetic towards the loss of innocent lives.
Non-Custom Paid (NCP) Vehicles: The Minister raised questions on the deliberate use of Non- Custom Paid (NCP) Vehicles and unnumbered motorcycles across KP without any restrictions which are often used in the commission of suicide bombings and terrorist operations.
Tarar said that the provincial government had to finally choose between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as the latter has been failing to show sincerity and firmness in condemning the terrorist groups.
Minister of State Talal Chaudhry Slams KP Administration on not providing space for individuals in the province to visit the state capital for medical treatment.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry echoed the concerns, saying the KP provincial government is actively and subtly taking away crucial operational powers from the police, while playing politics with security equipment.
Securing Resources: Chaudhry asked how security forces can fight heavily armed militants when they have not been provided with adequate resources by the government to do the job, while admitting that terrorism has been effectively dealt with in Punjab.
Chaudhry raised a question about Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s remarks on the soft stance about Afghanistan as he asked how the KP leadership would avoid mentioning the name of Afghanistan when more than 70% of the terror attacks are committed by Afghan nationals operating as cross-border proxies to destabilise Pakistan.
