Defence and Martyrs Day: President and Prime Minister Pay Glowing Tributes to Martyrs and Ghazis
ISLAMABAD: President of the Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have delivered separate special messages on the occasion of Defence and Martyrs Day of Pakistan (Yom-e-Difa-o-Shuhada) in which they have richly paid tributes to the nation’s military martyrs and war veterans.
President Asif Ali Zardari said that the ultimate sacrifice made during defense of the homeland in the 1965 war are the source of inspiration for the coming generations. He reiterated that this is the spirit of September 1965 which is still very much alive in Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos and the Battle of Truth (Ma’arka-e-Haq) and stated that no compromise will ever be made on the sovereignty, security and defense of the country.
The President also said the linkage between hostile external elements, the Taliban and anti-Pakistan elements and Fitna-al-Khwarj is not hidden and durable peace in the region would be impossible without a just solution of the Kashmir issue.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Congratulates Military Leadership on National Army Day.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the professional approach of the military leadership and said that September 6 was a bright page of national history which was a reminder to the nation of military and civilian sacrifices and the determination of the people.
The Prime Minister reiterated that hybrid warfare and the nefarious plots of the enemy forces will be prevented in a resolute manner with the help of national unity. He also pointed out the recent diplomatic achievements, noting that the Makkah agreement is an example of Pakistan’s emerging responsibility for regional security.
In the interim, the Acting President, Yousaf Raza Gillani also extolled the unprecedented valor and courage of the armed forces, emphasizing that national security and sustainable development are a reflection of mutual solidarity between the people and the military.
