ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has warned the public against any political marches, calling the prospect of an assault on the federal capital “sitting on the rocks and not doing anything” unbecoming of any nation and will cost the instigators and people equally dearly.
Mohsin Naqvi, however, said in Lahore during a press conference that the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) does not want to go ahead with the long march. There was still time, he warned; do not go into this narrow alley from which there is no escape. He added that the government will implement all the directives of Islamabad High Court in strict manner without any compromise.
Ending the shutdowns, the Government has decided to set up a permanent solution.
The Interior Minister insisted that no political benefit could be obtained by staging protests, saying the state will not stand for frequent instances in which foreign groups would come in and violently close down the country.
This time we are developing a well-rounded, long-term approach. The government can’t keep going through such destabilizing situations, Naqvi said.

Medical access issues and Naqvi had been asked to address demands for the PTI founder’s medical check-up, but said that such requests were routinely made in accordance with standard legal procedures. He said a thorough medical checkup was also done recently and reiterated that políticos need to put aside partisan politics.

At the end of his speech, the Interior Minister mentioned the reforms in administration, saying that the process of formation of new provinces is progressing rapidly. He spoke with great hope that with God’s grace, new administrative units will be created in the not too distant future.
