PML-N to Form Government in Azad Kashmir with Two-Thirds Majority: Rana Sanaullah

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will form the government in Azad Kashmir with a two-thirds majority and those staging sit-ins will not be able to stop the elections, advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said, adding that anyone playing into the hands of enemies will be dealt with by law.

Rana Sanaullah, who addressed the press conference along with Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam, said that the third phase of the Azad Kashmir elections has started and those who staged sit-ins should understand that they could not stop the polls. He said that an elected government will definitely consider the legitimate demands but the false ones will be dealt with by the law.

He pointed out that an attempt was made to disrupt polling at three polling stations in one constituency and opponents were trying to turn their defeat into victory by alleging rigging. He explained that one of the deceased members really died from heart disease and not by violence.

Sanaullah said PML-N will get a big majority in Azad Kashmir and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) friends had raised rigging allegations today and yesterday without any evidence. He noted that the critics had alleged that the phased elections were rigging while the Election Commission of Azad Kashmir had accepted the very demand of the PPP for holding the polls in phases. He also pointed out that the PPP has not organized any meetings or public gatherings on any seats in Punjab.

Stating that disrupting a peaceful election is not a democratic practice, the PML-N leader remarked that the PML-N leadership showed big-heartedness after the Gilgit-Baltistan elections. He said that he hoped the PPP leadership would now reverse their countdown and congratulate them on their victory.

Sanaullah also stated that the people who staged sit-ins had not achieved its goals and they should obey the law. Those who are playing with enemies will be held accountable legally and “serious action will be taken against those who took up arms,” he said.

It was scripted overnight by those who were accusing: Amir Muqam

Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam said that the allegations they made were ready the night before and they began making statements as early as 9:00 AM. We still do not understand what they get from false accusations, he said, “They should measure reality from the huge crowds that come to our public assemblies, their whining and crying is surprising.

Reacting to the criticism, he asked if anyone had not come from Sindh and what was the hypocrisy in saying that the police and people of Punjab were invited for a specific purpose.

Amir Muqam concluded that the PML-N will emerge victorious in the elections, adding that the peaceful conduct of elections amidst the current circumstances in Azad Kashmir deserves praise, and critics should introspect on why the public chose not to vote for them.
