Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad M-4 Motorway Six-Lane Expansion Project to Be Completed by December 15, Directs Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to expedite ongoing infrastructure works across the central region, setting a strict deadline of December 15 for the completion of the M-4 Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad six-laning project.
The directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by the Federal Minister in Islamabad, where comprehensive progress reports regarding various motorways and national highways under the NHA Central Region were reviewed.
Acceleration of Key Infrastructure Projects and Bridge Restorations
During the session, it was decided to accelerate the construction of the Lodhran-Multan Expressway, fast-track work on the Lalamusa Bypass on the National Highway (N-5), and advance the rehabilitation project of the Baba Farid Bridge over the Sutlej River. Additionally, plans were finalized to connect the Layyah and Taunsa bridges to arterial highways across southern Punjab.
The NHA Chairman was instructed to submit a detailed report at the earliest regarding the construction of the Phool Nagar Interchange on N-5 and other allied development schemes.
Focus on Quality Construction, Modern Lighting, and Traffic Safety
Emphasizing high standards of public utility, Abdul Aleem Khan stressed that all new highways must feature quality construction standards, modern lighting systems, and well-equipped rest areas. He specifically designated the Murree-Islamabad Expressway as a benchmark model for infrastructural excellence, insisting that every single penny of public funds must be strictly accounted for.
Furthermore, the Federal Minister directed authorities to construct safe pedestrian crossing bridges for citizen safety and to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow during ongoing construction activities.
