PIMS Tragedy: Federal Police Complete Inquiry Report and Submit to IG Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The federal police have completed their investigation report into the PIMS hospital tragedy and presented it to Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police with a request to send it to the Ministry of Interior.

The report is comprehensive, including written submissions and location information from nominated officials, as well as important CCTV footage from PIMS Hospital and Safe City cameras, sources said. In the course of the inquiry, police took formal statements from the former Executive Director of PIMS, Dr. Imran Sikandar and Professor Dr. Sadia and also recorded statements from a number of medical staff.

Nurse Razia Parveen’s Statement and Legal Proceedings
Remarkably, the enquiry also included the nurse’s Razia Parveen who played a heroic role in saving the newborn. All investigations were carried out in accordance with the provisions of Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.All investigations were done in compliance with Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The final clearance and authorization by the Ministry of Interior shall be taken after the formal registration of a first information report (FIR) shall be decided.

Islamabad High Court Proceedings
The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday heard a petition filed for a judicial probe into the PIMS tragedy that was bundled into an ongoing case.

The court asked for information on the official inquiry report submitted to the Prime minister and what action had been taken till now, and asked the federal government to provide a detailed written response. In addition, the court wanted to understand why there was no response to the report of the Senate Standing Committee on Health on the issue of PIMS from last year.
