Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik Directs Authorities to Ensure Uninterrupted Fuel Supply and Expedite Relief Payments
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has chaired a high-level review meeting to discuss the energy stocks across the country and instructed relevant authorities to maintain law and order situation or possible road blockades to break the continuity of supply and transportation of petroleum products.
A special control room has been put in place by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to keep a check on uninterrupted fuel supply throughout the day, officials told the Minister during the session. Pakistan State Oil (PSO) officials said more petroleum products were already being strategically pre-positioned and stored at key supply depots to mitigate against any possible logistical issues.

The Additional Secretary of Railways assured the meeting that in case of major closure of highways, maximum freight bogies will be allocated for high speed diesel transport for uninterrupted movement into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other sensitive areas.
Petroleum dealers’ associations were asked to take active cooperation in the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme, Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik expressed his gratitude to them. During the meeting, the meeting was informed that daily payments to petrol stations participating in the initiative have commenced and 8,500 out of 10,000 petrol pumps enrolled have received payments.
The Minister instructed officials to remove the remaining blockages immediately to complete payment of the remaining pumps and threatened tough legal measures against petrol stations that have failed to pass on the relief benefit to consumers.
