PCB Lodges Formal Protest After Sky Sports Broadcasts Interview of Imran Khan’s Sons During Lord’s Test
LONDON: English television broadcasters broadcasted an interview of former Pakistan captain Imran Khan’s sons during the lunch break of the first Test between the two teams at the historic cricket ground, Lord’s.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) then officially issued a strong protest against the broadcast.
Official Complaint and Threat of Temporary Boycott
The PCB made an official complaint against Sky Sports with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), according to reports by the British newspaper.
According to the information, in protest of the telecast, the PCB even thought of not sending the Pakistani team back to the field after lunch. But after some time, match resumed and the team went for a match.
The nature of the Interview and PCB’s Silence
It was then conducted by former England captain and Sky Sports presenter Mike Atherton. In the segment, former captain Imran Khan’s two sons Suleiman Khan and Qasim Khan showed great concern about their father’s health and imprisonment conditions.
In contrast, the Pakistan Cricket Board has been silent on the issue so far.
