Pakistan Strongly Condemns Drone Attacks on Saudi Arabia’s Oil Pipeline, Denouncing Strikes as a Flagrant Violation of International Law
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has issued a strong and unambiguous condemnation of the latest drone strikes on oil pipeline installations in Riyadh and Medina in Saudi Arabia.
A formal statement issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says attacks against critical infrastructure is a clear violation of international law. The strikes caused damage to the strategic East-West pipeline and caused several fatalities among civilians.
The Foreign Office has reiterated its support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s territorial integrity.
The Foreign Office spokesperson added that targeting critical civilian infrastructure is a serious threat to the peace and stability of the region, and that any actions that violate the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia are completely unacceptable.
In reiterating its firm diplomatic stance, Pakistan reiterated its complete backing of the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

The condemnation came after news from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the drone attack on the pipeline that runs from the Saudi east and west provinces came from Iraqi airspace. Saudi Arabia declared its right to take defensive action, but the Iraqi PM stepped in to ask Riyadh to postpone any action in response.
The Iraqi government, in turn, has decided to recognize the country’s use of its land, fired a top military official and promptly closed the Iran-backed Shalamcheh border crossing. Baghdad gave Saudi Arabia a special thanks for not retaliating with military force and stressed that any act against regional security is inexcusable.
