Pakistan Navy Seizes Narcotics Worth $750 Million in Major Joint Counter-Narcotics Operation in Arabian Sea
ISLAMABAD : The Pakistan Navy has successfully intercepted a suspicious ship in international waters in the country’s landmark anti-narcotics operation, seizing more than 2,800kg of high-quality narcotics. The maritime security operation was carried out by the Pakistan Navy ships PNS Haneen and PNS Yarmouk, according to a press statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the routine maritime patrol, Pakistan Navy intercepts a suspicious vessel and its operations were observed in the North Arabian Sea.Boarding and Recovery: A special boarding team boarded the vessel and conducted a comprehensive search that resulted in the discovery of huge amounts of hidden narcotics in specially-designed secret compartments.Estimated Value:
Estimated international market value of the seized contraband was approximately $750 million and total weight of the contraband seized was more than 2800 kilograms.
Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, commended the professionalism, operational readiness and tactical skills of the officers and men of the successful mission.
The Naval Chief reiterated the firm resolve of the state and the Pakistan Navy to protect national maritime frontiers, maintain regional stability and to stop the illegal trafficking of narcotics in the vast Indian Ocean region.
