Pakistan Meteorological Department Forecasts Rain and Urban Flooding

Meteorological Department Forecasts Rain Across Most Parts of the Country

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of strong winds, thunderstorms and rain in Islamabad in Upper Punjab and Kashmir during the night.

The Met Office says the same weather will accompany gusty winds and thundershowers in the north eastern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. People will receive rain and thundershowers in Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and north-eastern Balochistan and heavy downpour at some isolated areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan on Sunday. However, dry and humid conditions will continue elsewhere in the country.

Urban Flooding and Landslide Warnings
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mardan, Swabi, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore and other low lying areas in Islamabad have been warned against urban floods.

In addition, the areas of Kashmir, Murree, Galyat, Islamabad and Rawalpindi are at a high risk for flash floods in hill torrents and local streams. Landslides are also caught in areas of mountainous terrain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galyat, and Kashmir which are vulnerable to such events.
