Pakistan Expresses Deep Concern Over Yemen Situation, Strongly Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia at United Nations
UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has strongly expressed its concern over the prevailing security situation in Yemen, unequivocally condemning the Houthis’ military operations against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
In his address at the highest-level meeting at the United Nations, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, reiterated Islamabad’s stance on the solidarity and condemnatory action against the hostile cross-border strikes, which he had previously reiterated in a telephonic conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman a day before the meeting.

The Pakistani ambassador added that Islamabad is “completely committed to uphold the sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”. He stressed that Saudi Arabia is endowed with absolute and complete rights to take any defensive measure necessary in response to the aggression of Houthis against it, while assuring Pakistan’s full support for all defensive measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its citizens and infrastructure.
In addition, Asim Iftikhar said that the Houthis’ attacks in the Bab el-Mandeb strait “are a direct violation of international law,” which is vital for transiting shipping and oil traffic. He said the “aggression” is a significant challenge to freedom of navigation, as it can have a serious impact on global maritime trade and disrupt the international economy.
