Pakistan-Kuwait Protocol Agreement-2026 Signed to Enhance Bilateral Defense Ties
ISLAMABAD: The signing of the Pakistan-Kuwait Protocol Agreement-2026 underscores the high level of fraternal relations and mutual interests of both countries to further strengthen their defense cooperation.
This agreement is based upon the previous Defense Cooperation Agreement of 2023 that has been ratified by the State of Kuwait. It brings the long influence of mutual trust between the two countries to bear on strong institutional and operational cooperation for defense, which was successfully established during and after the first Gulf War.Institutional Framework and Scope of Cooperation This agreement gives the defense cooperation a formal institutional framework, deepens military-to-military cooperation, and improves cooperation in the field of military training and deployment of personnel.
This protocol agreement is not linked with any other bilateral or multilateral agreement, and should be considered solely in the context of defense relations between Pakistan and Kuwait. It is an implementation mechanism for the 2023 defense cooperation pact, thus serving as a direct continuation of it, enabling the pact’s effective implementation. The agreement is seen as a key step towards strengthening and embedding the long-standing defense alliance between Pakistan and Kuwait.
