Opposition Must Unite Against Terrorism to End Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Former Chief Minister Took an Oath Not to Combat Militancy, States PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s People Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the state of emergency and Governor’s Rule in KP could be lifted if the political parties side by side with federal government in the battle against terrorism.

Addressing the media in Karachi after attending the Yadgar-e-Shuhada Karsaz, Bilawal declared that the late chief minister was ‘coward’, claiming he had essentially taken an oath when the province was under unprecedented threats of terror and the heroic armies, police forces and people of Pakistan were losing lives.

The following are some of the important points of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s media statement in Karachi.
Constitutional Nature of Governor’s Rule: Bilawal supported the administrative measures, saying emergency and Governor’s Rule in KP is constitutional and KP Governor represents the federal government. He pointed out that combating terrorism is the party’s top concern and that is why the party has decided on its support to the federal government.

Speaking to the JUI-F’s chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PPP chairman said Fazlur Rehman may have a constructive role to play in any extension of Governor’s Rule if he makes the effort, urging him to channel his political criticism against the terrorism, adding that many JUI-F members have been martyred by extremists.

History of Security Milestones: Bilawal recalled past security incidents when the terrorists were defeated and pushed back by actions which global forces in Afghanistan could not perform and mourned the security breakdown that had resulted from the poor policies of the past, including the release of incarcerated terrorists and inviting the terrorists back.
