Opposition Decides to Maintain September 27 Protest and Long March Plan
ISLAMABAD: The opposition has reiterated its pledge to continue its oppositional movement and a long march on September 27 across the country.
According to an official declaration, a meeting of the joint opposition parliamentary party was held under the chairmanship of Mahmood Khan Achakzai. Several prominent political leaders, Raja Nasir Abbas, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Shahid Khatak, Asad Qaiser, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Salman Akram Raja, and other key leaders participated in the session.

In the meeting, the overall political situation was extensively discussed, the health of the PTI founder, adherence to Supreme Court orders and political planning for the future were further discussed. Opposition leaders voiced serious concern about the condition of the jailed leader and charged that no compromise would be made in the treatment of the ill leader and his condition.
In the declaration, it was alleged that the government is in contempt of court for failing to implement the Supreme Court’s rulings and was conducting a “drama” around the medical issue. The parliamentary party decided to take the case up to the Supreme Court on the contempt issue. In addition, the meeting agreed to continue with the planned protests and the long march on 27 September, and gave all opposition parties an invitation to join them.
