Olympic Champion Arshad Nadeem Finishes Fifth in Javelin Throw at World Athletics Ultimate Championship
BUDAPEST: Arshad Nadeem, a gold medalist at the last Olympics in Paris, once again didn’t make it to a podium finish, finishing fifth in the men’s javelin throw final at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship.
Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage won the javelin throw final at the world-class event in Budapest, Hungary with a huge 91.09-metre throw in the fourth attempt.
In the first round, Series Performance and Elimination After Third Round Arshad Nadeem threw a 74.42 metre throw, followed by 79.66 metre and the best throw of 81.49 metre on his third throw of the round.
The event’s format was competitive, with only the top four athletes continuing the pattern of the final round, thus ending Arshad’s run of three throws. Sri Lankan ace Rumesh Pathirage, meanwhile, had a huge impact on the game, clinching the grand final trophy.
Anderson Peters, who represented Grenada, was 2nd with 86.18 metres while Julian Weber of Germany was 3rd with 85.89 metres. Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem will next be representing Pakistan in international events after his appearance in Budapest.
