No Roads Are Blocked in Islamabad; Containers Placed Solely for Citizens’ Safety Under Court Directives, States Ministry of Information

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has strongly refuted recently reported closure of Islamabad roads by Al Jazeera and explained that the containers set up at various locations are only defensive measures taken to ensure public safety as per the order of Islamabad High Court.

These security measures were taken for precautionary purposes in light of past violent incidents and aggressive behavior, which is in compliance with the basic responsibility of the state to ensure law and order, the ministry said.

The Ministry’s Clarification – Key Highlights
The ministry reiterated that containers were set up at certain locations only as per the directives of the High Court for the protection of the lives of people and for keeping civil order.The ministry explained that the containers were placed at specific locations only with the intention of protecting the lives of the citizens and maintaining civil order in accordance with the directives of the High Court.

Rejection of claims by Road Closure protesters in Al Jazeera that the road closures are just “closures” confirmed that all major roads in the capital and all roads in the country are open for business.

Objective ground realities can’t be changed by such skewed propaganda, the ministry said, adding that it was an attempt to give a negative impression.
