Met Office Predicts Rain and Thunderstorms Across Karachi and Multiple Sindh Districts from September 14 to 16
KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of precipitation, dust-thunderstorms and isolated heavy showers in Karachi and some districts of Sindh due to the effect of low pressure weather system. The Met Office said a low-pressure centre over the regional tracts is set to track westwards as a monsoon low. Karachi Division is expected to experience partly cloudy, hot, and humid weather with the maximum temperature range of 35°C to 37°C for September 14-16 with intermittent spells of rain and thundershowers. Light North-West winds of 4 kmph are blowing.
In response to the impending weather system, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a formal weather alert in districts of Sindh. Sindh Chief Minister’s Advisor Gyan Chand Essrani has issued a call to file on high alert for PDMA/Sindh Emergency Rescue Services (Rescue 1122).Isolated moderate intensity dust-thunderstorms with isolated heavy rainfall is likely across Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad Khan from the evening of September 13 to September 16.
In addition, light to moderate dust-thunderstorms and rains are likely to occur in Sanghar, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad and Jamshoro for September 14-16.
