Messages Between US and Iran Still Being Exchanged to Build Consensus, States Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson
DOHA: Indirect diplomatic talks and message exchanges are now officially on-going between the United States and Iran in an effort to ease tensions, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar (MOFA Qatar).
During regional media briefings, the Qatari Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson highlighted that the two sides have no other choice but to work out all existing disputes in a peaceful manner through dialogue.
The following are some of the highlights of the statement by the Foreign Ministry of Qatar:
Opposition to Attacks on Infrastructure: Qatar strongly condemned any act or threat directed against the infrastructure in the region, noting that such acts and threats would be an obvious breach of international laws and norms.
Gulf States’ responses: The spokesman reaffirmed that the Gulf states had intentionally not become involved in any military conflict, and added that Iran should stop its aggressive behavior towards other countries in the region.
Indomitable Commitment to Peace: Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to continued diplomatic mediation and peace-building efforts, despite any provocations and direct risks to which it has been subjected.
