Makkah Defense Agreement Sends Message of Unity and Regional Peace: PM
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have decided to take the bilateral cooperation from Defense to new levels and bring economic and agricultural cooperation into the picture.The Minister for Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House to discuss the current status of the water bodies and jointly explore solutions.
During the meeting in-depth discussions were held on strengthening mutual cooperation in the field of agriculture and water resources, food security and economy.The Prime Minister welcomed the Saudi minister and his delegates and emphasized that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have historical, fraternal and deep-rooted ties.
He congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The recently signed Makkah Joint Defense Agreement between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan has made the three countries closer and is a strong message of unity and peace for the region, said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He stressed that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are geopolitical partners and the time has arrived to give substantial attention to augmenting cooperation in economic and agriculture fields. This, he said, will pave the way to a strong commercial and investment cooperation between the two countries, of mutual interest for both parties.
During the meeting, Prime Minister was happy about the continued positive cooperation between the two countries in agricultural product trade, especially in Pakistan’s agricultural exports to Saudi Arabia, and thanked the Saudi government for its support.The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction over the continued positive collaboration in agricultural product trade between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia including Pakistan’s export of agricultural goods to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and thanked the Saudi Government for its support.Both leaders shared a common interest in further advancing collaboration in different sectors to improve agricultural productivity in Pakistan through a range of channels, such as the use of modern technology, research and development (R&D) and better use of water resources.
.A delegation of Pakistani agriculture experts will be visiting Saudi Arabia soon, the Prime Minister said. During the delegation’s visit to Riyadh, further avenues of cooperation in the field of agriculture, water resources and related fields will be discussed and ways to fully leverage the potential of the agricultural partnership between both countries will be explored.
The Saudi Minister for Environment, Water, and Agriculture expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the warm welcome and hospitality, and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s strong commitment to continue to explore avenues for deepening cooperation in agriculture, water resources and food security with Pakistan.
