Make Export Growth the Foundation of National Economic Development, Directs Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the relevant authorities to export enhancement and standardization of Pakistani products as an axis of the economic development of the country.
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of diversifying trade and integrating new sectors into the export framework for sustainable economic growth during the review meeting in Islamabad on export and pace of economic development at a high-level.
Concentrate on Value Addition, Modern Technology and Digitalization
The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged special focus on value addition in export industries and encouraged the active promotion of modern technology, research, innovation and digitalization. He said that value addition would give great boost to the global market value and competitiveness of the products of Pakistan.
In addition, the Prime Minister instructed the ministries to remove the administrative and commercial impediments faced by the exporters and make the export process quicker, transparent and completely streamlined.
Briefing on Global Market Access and Trade Agreements
In the course of the briefing, the Prime Minister was briefed on various ongoing efforts that are further enhancing access to the Pakistani market in the international arena including active efforts towards achieving free trade and preferential trade agreements with friendly countries.
Promotional trade exhibitions overseas “are being organised” to boost exports of Pakistani horticultural products, surgical instruments and medical devices, officials said. Also, the meeting was updated on ongoing work to update the IP laws, and the re-structuring of the Export Development Fund is in place already.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Jam Kamal Khan, M مصدق Malik, Ahad Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Adviser HaroonAkhtar and Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani attended the high level meeting.
