KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi Announces New Long March Date, Declaring October 4 as Official Departure from Peshawar
PESHAWAR : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has officially announced a revised schedule for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march, setting Oct. 4 as the day it will march from Peshawar and Oct. 5 as the day for a celebration of the founding chairman’s birthday.
Speaking at a media briefing after holding political committee meetings, Chief Minister Afridi said the leadership is completely on the same page regarding the roadmap. Afridi said that only the restoration of the constitution and democratic rights was their fight, as political opponents take advantage of the friction in the system while public debt is growing at a record pace.

Unanimous Decision: The political committee decided that the march will start on October 4 from Peshawar and will conclude with Peshawar on October 5 with the celebration of “Victory Day” on the birthday of the founder of the PTI.
Commitment to Peaceful Protest: Afridi pointed out that PTI was conducting a proper political battle and reiterated that the march on October 4 will be peaceful, but the marchers were coming with a sense of urgency to get their core demands fulfilled.
Governance and Security Concerns: The Chief Minister highlighted the administrative hurdles on the way to isolate KP, and urged the judiciary to pay attention to the restrictions on the movement of goods around KP. He noted that dialogue is still the best way to “manage crises in the country,” but that the “frustration of the people has hit an unprecedented high.
