Kashmir Observes Black Day on India’s Independence Day Amid Strict Lockdown in Srinagar
SRINAGAR;In a bid to protest against the Independence Day, Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is celebrating “Black Day” today. Kashmiris have launched protests on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world to protest against the Indian rule, following an appeal by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC). Pro-freedom leaders and various organizations supported the strike call and led anti-India protests in the world to bring the international community’s attention to the alleged human rights violations in the occupied territory, Kashmir Media Service quoted them as saying. To prepare for the demonstrations, the occupying Indian army had erected an extensive multi-layered security cordon in the valley, especially in Srinagar. A large number of troops have been deployed around Bakshi Stadium and all vehicles, passengers and people walking on the premises are being closely checked.
