IRGC Spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi Poses Critical Questions to American Public Regarding US Global Military Footprint and Domestic Challenges
TEHRAN: Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi has asked a series of basic questions directly at the American people, sparking a debate on international military strategies as well as socio-economic issues within the United States.In a press conference in Tehran, the IRGC spokesman raised the question of the U.S. military bases’ doctrine, which is only national defense, while explaining why the U.S. is keeping about 800 military bases around the world.Whether it’s when acts of violence or bloodshed happen around the world, their causes or links often go back to US intervention, Mohebbi said during the Press Conference.
He said that the American people should take time to reflect on the reasons that these conflicts continue. Domestic Crises vs. Foreign Interventions: IRGC spokesperson pointed to the internal American issues, such as the millions of citizens living below the poverty line, the millions of homeless people despite the country’s supposed prosperity, and the absence of a comprehensive public healthcare system in the country.
He also asked why the US leadership doesn’t focus on its own people when they are going abroad to do military adventures. Clarifying the Slogan “Death to America”:
Mohebbi made it clear that challenging the destructive policies of the US government is a matter of ideology and ideology alone, and that chanting “Death to America” is not a call to kill ordinary American citizens, as the reason Tehran chose to speak directly to the American people about these facts.
During the recent United Nations General Assembly sessions, the Iranian delegation was also denied proper media and communication facilities to adequately communicate its vision to the international community, the IRGC spokesperson added.
Mohebbi called the allegations of Iran’s efforts to develop nuclear weapons “the biggest lie of the century” and reiterated Tehran’s transparent and firm defensive posture.
