Iran is Our Neighbor, Pakistan is Playing an Honest Mediator Role Between US and Iran, Declares Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
NEW YORK : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s role in easing tensions in the region, saying Islamabad was an honest and sincere mediator between Tehran and Washington, as it was a close neighbor of Iran.
Addressing the media at the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, PM Shehbaz recalled the steps that had been taken in the diplomatic process, saying that US President Donald Trump, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and himself had signed the Islamabad Memorandum.
Continuous diplomatic moves despite failures.
The Prime Minister recalled that unforeseen and tumultuous happenings in the region and the geopolitical landscape happened after the signing of the memorandum. He noted, however, Pakistan’s diplomatic initiative was “entirely focused and resolute”.
The Prime Minister assured that Islamabad had not given up on peace and stability in the region and is continuing with its earnest endeavour to make further diplomatic strides.
