Iran Blacklists 45 Oil Tankers Transiting the Strait of Hormuz
TEHRAN:After the new sanctions of the United States, Iran has adopted a tough attitude by blacklisting 45 oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, the country’s strategic waterway.
The 45 ships have been reported for breaches of waterway transit and navigation laws by Iran. The Iranian authorities said that they would implement stringent punishment measures against the black-listed tankers, noting that the violation of the ships can result in severe penalties, arrest and even the seizure of their cargoes.
Moreover, Tehran threatened to act against any entity or vessel being involved in any ship-to-ship transfer with the blacklisted companies. Escalating Regional and Economic Tensions have led to Iran’s ‘tightening up’ of monitoring, security measures and operational limitations throughout the Strait of Hormuz.
