Iran Announces New Restricted Zone Outside the Strait of Hormuz, Warns Against US Threats
TEHRAN: Iran has said it’s planning a new, limited maritime zone just outside the key Strait of Hormuz, which is the entrance to the Persian Gulf.
The new exclusion corridor will start from the border of the current US naval blockade and will reach other parts of the Persian Gulf, Mohsen Rezaei, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) said. Any ship entering this new area will be placed on Tehran’s sanctions list at a moment’s notice,” said Rezaei.

The limited area will officially be enforced in the next few days, Rezaei said. He added that the Strait of Hormuz will stay shut unless America stops threatening and military actions against the Iranian interests continue to stop.

The security chief highlighted recent naval clashes in which Iranian forces have shot down an American warship with a local-made anti-ship missile.
