Multiple Terrorists, Including Two Female Suicide Bombers, Arrested in Balochistan Intelligence-Based Operations; Quetta Major Bombing Plot Foiled, States Shahid Rind

QUETTA: In a series of high-quality intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Balochistan, security forces have successfully neutralised major security threats and arrested several hardened militants, including two female suicide bombers.

Shahid Rind, the Chief Minister’s Media Coordinator, said security forces on Monday successfully thwarted a big terrorist attack on the provincial capital of Quetta on August 14, when they detained two suspects who were trying to smuggle huge quantities of weapons and ammunition into the city.

Some highlights of the security warning and arrests in Balochistan are as follows:
Capture of Operatives and TTP Militants: Shahid Rind said the ongoing combing operations resulted in the arrest of two female suicide bombers and six terrorists belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as well as two important commanders of the militants captured from Shaban and Khadkocha. Court cases are ongoing against the arrested terrorists in an “anonymous court”.

Call for Surrender: Rind emphasized that there are still rehabilitation activities being carried out and noted that one youth from Panjgur, Shahab, had turned himself in. He called on youth misled and still residing in the mountains to give up a senseless war and connect with the authorities through their families to follow the path of Shahab and come to peace, affirming that the state’s doors are open for everyone willing to return to peace.

Additionally, taking arms and the complicity of the Transporter, Rind and Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqaat said that if the information had not been timely, this would have been a colossal tragedy in Quetta. The authorities managed to block buses carrying arms and explosives from Chagai, and they have also established the identities of some local transporters involved in the smuggling operation, for which they have been able to stop the transport vehicles.
