If Iran Cannot Trade, No One Will Trade: Iranian Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami Issues Uncompromising Warning on Strait of Hormuz
TEHRAN: In the sharpest public statement yet, Iranian Army Chief, Major General Amir Hatami, stated that Tehran would not allow its adversaries to “take advantage” of vital trade corridors in the region if international sanctions and blockades stand in the way of Iran’s economic survival.
In a severe challenge to maritime tensions, General Hatami said the Islamic Republic will strongly protect its economic lifelines and its sovereignty:
If the regime doesn’t allow a trade, no one will come to the market,” the Army Chief said, “If Iran doesn’t grant the right to live, no one else will be able to live in peace.
Protect the Strait of Hormuz: Hatami emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is a sacred waterway, and it is a top symbol of national honor and dignity, and any power that tries to exclusively exploit and cut off Iran’s commerce will not be tolerated.
Iranian Military Preparedness
In a statement echoing the Army Chief’s thoughts, Iranian military spokesman Brigadier General Akrmenia stated that the United States is having a very complicated and vulnerable strategic situation in the Middle East. General Akrmenia pointed out that Iranian armed forces are always ready to fight against any hostile move, and Washington is at risk of using military force.
