Houthi Projectile Strike Injures Two in Saudi Arabia for Second Consecutive Day as Regional Tensions Intensify
RIYADH: Houthi forces fired a projectile at Saudi Arabia for the second day in a row, causing multiple injuries and new damage to structures close to Saudi’s southern border.
A projectile crashed into the Al-Tuwal governorate in Jazan, injuring two people, according to confirmation from the Saudi General Directorate of Civil Defense.
Strong explosions shook the area, injuring a local mosque, destroying several houses and civilian cars. Saudi Civil Defense strongly condemned the attack on its civilian infrastructure, noting that such attacks are a violation of international humanitarian law.
The attack comes a day after similar attacks on key infrastructure along Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline.In the prevailing security context, the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, was called by the British Foreign Secretary on the phone.
In the course of the diplomacy, both sides discussed the changing situation in the region. The British Foreign Secretary reiterated his country’s support for the Kingdom, noting that Saudi Arabia retains the right to self-defense and protection of its territory in full, according to international law.
