Growing Terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Must Be Stopped at All Costs, States Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has vowed to eradicate the rising wave of terrorism in KP at any cost, and reiterated the government’s firm resolve towards achieving lasting peace and security in the region.

The Prime Minister said this in a high-level meeting with Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Engr. during the meeting. Comprehensive review of administrative and security affairs related to Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was done by Amir Muqam.

Highlighting the extreme sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a response to terrorism, the Prime Minister expressed a strong commitment to the Security and Development of the province, saying it is the government’s desire to see KP witnessing an equal level of socio-economic development with other parts of the country.

Welfare of AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan: PM Shehbaz told the authorities to continue all welfare activities, extend infrastructure and provide basic service delivery in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan without any interruption during the briefing by the Federal Minister Amir Muqam.

As the opposition resorted to sit-ins and long marches, the Prime Minister strongly condemned such practices, while reminding them that he had earlier issued warnings against “agitational politics” for ensuring political stability.

He said political agitation directly affects the national economy, exports and manufacturing, and erodes the long-overdue macro-economic gains and that, while dialogue would be kept open when the protests are over, the state would protect public life and property using all the means of the law.
