Government and PTI Demands Surface in Negotiations; Government Delays Immediate Positive Response as Talks Continue
ISLAMABAD: During the political talks between the federal government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) key demands of the opposition party have emerged that show the initial reluctance shown by the government to give a positive answer immediately.
Political sources said the opposition delegation reiterated the importance of confidence-building measures to provide an enabling atmosphere for reconciliation to take place.

Opposition demands: In a formal statement, the opposition demanded the immediate discharge of the detention order imposed on the founding leader’s sisters, removal of the ban on holding family and legal meetings with Khan and full implementation of Supreme Court orders related to his treatment at a private hospital.
In a written statement, Government’s Counter-Position Advisor on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah highlighted the government’s position and strongly reiterated that the PTI should withdraw its call for long march completely and Islamabad will not allow any aggressive long march or blocking of the city under any circumstances.
Allied Next Steps: Although there were some differences on demands, both sides agreed to consult further and give formal responses on the following meeting, giving scope for further progress in tomorrow’s session of the talks.
