Goods Transporters Demand Immediate Halt to Frequent Diesel Price Increases
ISLAMABAD:The All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association has voiced its serious concern at the high frequency of hike in diesel price as it has strongly urged the government to end the upward trend of diesel prices and give due consideration to the pricing mechanism for petroleum products.
Association President Muhammad Owais Chaudhry said that high diesel rates have an immediate financial impact on transporters and the consumers, and have serious cascading impact on freight rates, domestic industries and commerce.
Inquiries about Tax Review and 15-Day Pricing Mechanism
The association called for a prompt review of taxes and duties imposed on diesel to ease the hardships of the transporters who were facing increasing operational costs.
Muhammad Owais Chaudhry also suggested to assess petroleum product price on a stable basis of review period of 15 days instead of frequent and daily fluctuations. He said that the diesel price stabilization would help the important transport sector, as well as would contribute to the fight against the inflation.
