Good News on Fuel Prices Soon If Global Oil Markets Remain Stable: Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik

If global oil prices remain stable over the next two days, good news is on the way, according to Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik.

The Minister told the media that the country had economic problems in the days of the US-Iran conflict, saying that in neighboring countries, people could only get one or two liters of petrol after presenting their identity cards, but OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) was responsible for setting prices based on a seven-day average. The oil prices are high in the international market and in Pakistan as well, he added.

The Minister also explained that the Ministry of Finance had certain commitments to draw up the national budget, and that conscious citizens know that new energy mechanisms are needed. He appreciated the Prime Minister’s adherence to his commitments and said the PM did not cut down or increase the petroleum levy.

Ali Pervaiz Malik, in his concluding remarks, said that discussions should be centered around devolution of power and authority to the grassroots level, which is a prerequisite for improvement. He said that if any changes are to be made, it is clearly laid out in the Constitution and what is best for Pakistan should be done.
